Last week marked Umbraco Tees Day, once a proud celebration of all things Umbraco.
Back in the day, my socials would light up with photos of people showing off their Umbraco swag: team shots, office selfies, beach views, and plenty of smiles.
But this year, I only spotted two photos.
And one of them was mine.
It got me thinking, where has everyone gone?
With the community spreading out across Bluesky, Mastodon, LinkedIn, and maybe even Facebook, it feels harder than ever to find everyone in one place.
The Umbraco Discord has gone quiet, mostly just people saying “morning” and not much else.
When I first got into Umbraco, it was the people that hooked me.
The forums, the old Slack, the friendly faces behind the code, they made it so much more than a CMS. Those online chats turned into real friendships and made in-person events feel like reunions rather than conferences.
So I can’t help but wonder:
Has the old Umbraco community vibe gone for good?
Are people still out there, just in different corners of the web?
Or has Umbraco simply become more of a tool than a community?
I’d love to hear what others think. Whether you’ve been part of Umbraco for years or are completely new to it — what does the future of the Umbraco community look like to you?
